Building apps for influencers. From Beta program to acquisition.
Company
Triber is an app that let anybody create their own app for free, in seconds. Premium users are influencers & celebrities who are seeking for a new way to connect & interact with their audience. Their app had several features such as a unified feed combining all their social networks posts, a chat to discuss with their audience, a media gallery, a store...
Role
I joined Triber when the company was incubated at Paris&Co. The team was composed by the CEO, a developer, the CTO and myself. I worked on everything that needed to be done in product and brand design such as the branding, design of iOS/Android apps, website design and development, motion design, graphic design, content for social media and press.
From beta to acquisition
During the 7 months I've worked at Triber, we built several apps for influencers/media and grew the userbase from 100 beta testers to 200 000 real users. A few months later, the company got acquired by NRJ Group, a major media group in France.
Process
To design the apps, I worked as solo designer on paper/whiteboard, Photoshop & After Effects. I designed wireframes, then hi-fi mockups and prototypes. I did reviews with the CEO, CTO and developer. I designed features like the Profile, the Media Gallery, a complex Instant Messaging feature with threads, analytics dashboards... I also worked on the company branding and marketing materials — I even reached out to some journalists and acquired 7 press articles, including Venture Beat, Sony Blog, Maddyness, French Web... I also managed the launch on Product Hunt and made a motion design (see below) to introduce the app redesign to users, hoping that it would be shared by the celebrity featured in the video, Ranz Kyle. He shared it and the motion got tens of thousands of views which allow us to acquire thousands of new users without real investment.
